  2. Flight 93 • Of the four planes hijacked on September 11, 2001, Flight 93 was the only one to not reach it’s target. • The plane crashed in an open field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

  3. Theories • It is widely believed that Flight 93 crashed after its passengers revolted against the terrorists, and purposely crashed it in a field to avoid any major damage. • Some theories state that the plane was actually shot down by the government.

  4. Crash Theory • The most widely believed theory revolving around Flight 93 is that it was crashed by the passengers to avoid any major damage to any cities. • This is widely accepted as the truth because it would not have been very difficult for the passengers to revolt as the terrorist were only using makeshift weapons. • The main problem with this theory is the fact the wreckage from the crash was very widespread. • It is also problematic because the crater supposedly caused by the fuselage of the plane is much smaller than it should be.

  5. Shot Down Theory • A less accepted but still fairly widely believed theory is that Flight 93 was shot down over Pennsylvania and wreckage from the explosion was what actually crashed in the field at Shanksville. • This is supported by the fact that the wreckage was widespread, which is more consistent with a mid air explosion than a crash. • There is also damage on the wreckage which is consistent with damage caused by a heat seeking missile.
