  5. Merits Recognize outstanding performance or exceptional appearance Demerits Recognize deficient performance or appearance Examples: OPA (Outstanding Personal Appearance) – 3 Merits Unshined Shoes – 3 Demerits Merits vs. Demerits

  6. Recognize superior performance Accumulation of merits over time within a single reporting period 25 Merits = Overnight 35 Merits = Weekend Rewards

  7. “PR” or “White Slip” Report of Improper or outstanding performance Submitted by faculty, staff, or cadets Must be submitted within 72 hours of report of action. Must include: Name, CIT #, Date of Occurrence, Description of Action, and Signature of Reporting Official Time for Processing Performance Reports Written and rendered within 72 hours ERWs returned within 72 hours of issue of PR Performance Reports (PR)

  8. “ERW” Response to a Performance Report Must be legible Chance to set the record straight Explanation Extenuation Mitigation Due to Commandant’s Office no later than 72 hours after the receipt of the PR PRs for which ERWs are not returned may be adjudicated without cadet input Explanation Required in Writing (ERW)

  11. “DL” A computer printout listing cadet merits, demerits, and punishments Arranged by CIT # and by company Distributed each week on Wednesdays and Fridays Retained by Company Clerks Delinquency List

  12. “PO” Printed document listing cadet punishments to include confinements, tours, restrictions, etc. Listed by Battalion Distributed Weekly (Tuesdays) Retained by Company Clerks Punishment Orders

  13. Commandant’s Board (Highest) Class 1 Hearings Suitability Board Battalion Tactical Officer Hearing/Review Conduct Review Board (Lowest) Investigations and Boards

  14. Right to appeal punishment Appeal Process Dependant upon approving official Next Higher Level Appeal Chain Commander Tactical Officers (Company & Battalion) Assistant Commandant for Discipline Commandant President Board of Visitors Appeals

  15. Class Attendance is Mandatory “Attendance is of higher priority than other normal activities” Punishment for Class Absences 1st Unexcused Absence 3D/3C 2nd Unexcused Absence 5D/5C 3rd Unexcused Absence 5D/10C 4th Unexcused Absence 5D/5T 5th / 6th Unexcused Absences 10D/10T 7th or More Unexcused Absences 10D/10T & referred to Academic Review Bd 10th Unexcused Academic Discharge Class Absences

Class Attendance is Mandatory “All members of the Guard are directed to attend class when their schedules permit” Members of the Guard will not: Be absent from scheduled tests or labs Be excused from submitting assignments on time No more than four (4) absences are allowed per semester due to Guard Duty Class Absences and Guard
