  3. TIS members • Full members-all Vic uni’s, TAFEs & CSU • Non-members (independent) ITC’s • Non-members (interstate) uni’s & TAFE’s incl ADFA • Associate members-Centrelink Non-members & associate by invitation only (you pick)

  4. Who runs TIS? Executive committee (day-to-day running) • President-Alex Sims Swinburne • Treasurer-Lois Carlton NMIT • Heather Sivyer La Trobe uni • Tamara Barth ACU • Melissa Robinson RMIT TIS Management (big picture/g decisions) • Senior Managers from each institute

  5. Statistics • 70% of yr 12 students attend • b/n 30 000-35 000 students • 45-50 TIS days • 115-120 sessions • Commences in March/April with WD • Finishes in Aug with Nth West Metro

  6. TIS session • 1 ½ hrs long • 40-45 min panel • 40-45 min supermarket • Usually in uni hall eg: Wilson hall or school assembly hall • Up to three per day • Can be at two locations in one day

  9. Who goes to TIS events • All Vic universities • Local TAFE • William Angliss • SA uni (WD, Loddon) • CSU • Up to 5 ITC’s/interstate uni’s (you pick)

  10. TIS presentation theme • Major focus is VTAC • Very little about international students • No reference to IB • Caters to the majority • Limited by time & students ability to sit still for up to one hour

  12. Why you should go • Starts the VTAC ball rolling • Supports your VTAC information program • Students hear from an “expert” • Gets students onto a tertiary institute campus • Collect course guides in one-stop-shopping • Meet institute reps • Make a day of it & do a campus tour

  13. Schools obligation • Arrive on time • Assist with seating students • Supervise your students at all times • Encourage & direct your students to seek out relevant information from reps

  14. Future TIS……. • Jazz up PP presentation e.g. multimedia format, incorporate film etc • Ongoing PD of TIS representatives to ensure relevant & quality events • Ongoing improvement of webpage
