2. Detail of letterhead from ca. 1900 showing the by-then breweri in Fredensborgveien 24. The car park area is in the lower right corner — where there used to be a fountain surrounded by shrubs and trees (out of which three pear-trees still exist).
5. The neighbourhood Bergfjerdingen, a former suburb in the outskirts of Oslo. Has managed to survive intact as a charming part of town, with well-preserved and inhabited wooden houses, now one of the few areas that retains the small-town character of bygone days in a genuine manner. Most of the houses built during the period 1800-1860. Vulnerability and special urban qualities demand special treatment of neighbouring areas - but it pays off lots in return... 6. Parking situation The area is densely populated, with a lack of parking spaces. Forthcoming in the near future are upgrading enterprises that will refine the neighbouring areas substantially, but at the same time will cause an additional drain of parking fascilities.
7. Highlighted: Street parking spaces that will be withdrawn in the neighbourhood, within a time span of a year or two
8. Possible solutions Our vision, on our behalf as neighbours:
freeing valuable surface area from street parking
without reducing the overall amount of parking spaces in the area
reestablishing the little fountain surrounded by shrubs and trees
on your behalf as estate owner/landlord:
provide more attractive outside areas for your tenants
ensure a positive yield
finally settle dispute with neighbourhood
With new parking technology, it is quite possible to reconcile these demands.
