  1. SLHC+Tau HLT + Z to tau tau • M.Bachtis • University of Wisconsin

  2. Action Items Plots from the trigger note when redy Done for the TSG note The long Tau note takes for ever Tau ID +Plots for Sashca Under re-development. Focusing on a benchmark analysis Tau Trigger fix to recover efficiency in L2.5 L3 Tau Trigger fix to include the new GCT algorithm

  3. SLHC Improved the tau isolation Since leakage outside the 2x2 is more in the tau case we need a different threshold for counting isolation clusters for taus and electrons Added a collection of NonIsolated Taus Just take the highest filtered untrimmed clusters Removed useless hardware Found that if the comparisons of the overlap filter are correct no pattern match is needed in cluster finder Saves 2 Pipeline stages! Provided configurations for 40 and 100 PU to the group along new tags Provided all the tools to Ian to optimize the algorithms

  4. Performance at 40PU

  5. Performance at 100 PU As shown here the rate increases as expected ..

  6. Tau HLT After the TSG Coordination meeting we worked with Simone to create a PF @ HLT menu As Simone mentioned the code was (almost) there but no me nu was made/evaluated We applied a leading track OR leading pion cut at 2.5 What about the L1 Tau Trigger ?

  7. L2.5 performance Requiring Track > 5 GeV OR Gamma Cluster > 5 GeV

  8. L3 Tau resolution! Simone made this plot: If we use the PF data formats track corrections come for free at L3 of the HLT Of course the tracks have not the offline track quality! But very nice performance We can also apply a soft threshold at L3

  9. Z to tau tau analysis Trying to bring background down Many cuts needed on top of the default tau ID I failed to skim efficiently the MU enriched sample Will repeat Using QCD binned (15-120) I did one more try

  10. Muon Pt

  11. Tau Charge! We need to veto bad charge candidates

  12. Tau PT

  13. Mu+MET Mt

  14. Di Tau Mass (OS) 8 events of QCD scaled high Need to use the ppMUX sample Muon rejection for taus does not work !!!! OR I am doing something wrong during cross cleaning ZMM peak with Tau misID as MU should not be there

  15. Tau ID I decided to redo it using tracks ,ECAL and Preshower clusters Started with three prongs Very good results Working on Pi0/gamma discrimination using cluster shapes and preshower data for the endcap Results end of August

  16. Plans SLHC Ian will optimize the algorithms up to 200PU I will write a note while I am bored in Greece Tau HLT Tau Monitoring runs 100% automated . Needs some (look & feel) work The pending work for me is to make sure Tau DQM works fine and it is ready for data taking If needed I can optimize L1 Tau using the new algorithm Ztau Tau & Tau ID Run on Big sample and get the Z signal clean Try to estimate subtract the backgrounds Port the new Tau ID when ready Get an alternative analysis without Particle Flow to be able to understand the first data Jets made by ECAL clusters + Tracks Tau ID as my new one (no PF)
