IRS e-file Marketing Partnerships Expanded in 2000 • Purpose: To Partner with Private Industry to Cooperatively Promote IRS e-file Options • IRS Offered Services (e.g., Printing, Distribution of Letters and Multi-Media Products, a Hyperlink, etc.) in Exchange for Industry Promotional Efforts on Behalf of IRS e-file • Established Through the Request for Agreement (RFA) Process

Agreements Were Granted to Support Various e-file Marketing Efforts • Companies Engaged in the Following Types of Promotional Activities: • Distributed IRS e-file Messages and Promotional Ads to Company Employees and/or Customers • Provided Mailing Lists of Employer Groups and/or Financial Institutions for Improved Target Marketing • Promoted IRS e-file Logo and Key Messages on Company Web Sites • Promoted IRS e-file to Practitioner Audiences Currently Not Participating with IRS e-file

Agreements Were Granted to Support Various e-file Marketing Efforts - Cont. • Companies Engaged in the Following Types of Promotional Activities - Cont.: • Placed IRS e-file Ads and/or Key Messages in Professional Trade Publications • Provided Multi-Media Products (e.g., CD-ROMs with Appropriate e-file Packaging) That Offer the e-file Capability

  5. IRS Will Continue Focusing Its IRS e-file Partnership Efforts • Free Tax Preparation and e-file is the Trend and/or Wave of the Future • Through Industry Partnerships, IRS Will Pursue This Trend Aggressively • Future Cooperative Marketing Agreements Will Be Related to FREE Tax Preparation and e-file Opportunities for Taxpayers

  6. IRS Will Continue Focusing Its IRS e-file Partnership Efforts - Cont. • A Request for Information (RFI) and a Draft RFP (or RFA) Will Be Issued in May 2000 to Determine Industry Interest Level, Requirements and/or Implementation Issues • A Subsequent RFP Will Be Issued for Industry Proposal Submission • Cooperative Marketing Services Will Be Offered by the IRS In Exchange for Free Services Offered by Industry • Goal is to Have Opportunity Available to Taxpayers by Filing Season 2001 (But No Later Than Tax Year 2002)
