Introduction • Transmitting live an ARISS schoolcontact, using a simple webcam, would help sharing the event with people and studentseverywhere in the world. • Goals: • Involving in the school the largestamount of students, evenif in the event room they’renotable to hostall of them in person • Involve otherschools/students from far away • Spreading the ARISS projectawarenessmaximally • Useful for HAM radio groupspotentiallyinterested in the ARISS projectbutnotinformed on how to conduct en event • Advantages: • No need for a dedicated PC • Plug and play, just connect camera, network and audio plugs • Very easy and cheap configuration (lessthan € 100) • Wecould share the software installation package, to be easilycopied on a SD card and putted in the Raspberry PI. No need for complicate installation or configuration.

  4. ARISS webcastplatform • Hardware needed: • Raspberry PI developmentboard • CPU to acquiresignal from USB camera, audio from radio or phone patch. Realtimeencoding to USTREAM (or equivalent) webcast service • Based on Linux customizeddistribution • Configuration via web-if • USB audio interface • AUDIO IN from radio or phone patch • AUDIO OUT for contact audio recording (i.e. on a PC) • Automatic audio recordingon local USB memory or SD card – UNDER DEVELOPMENT • USB HD webcam • HD camera with autofocus features • Possible multiple camera control (meeting room, antenna, …) – UNDER DEVELOPMENT

  5. USTREAM.com webcast service How itworks? Ustream.com support, through a dedicated API, embedding live transmissionusing an external software (i.e. VLC – videolan.org)

  6. HAM-TV The same hardware could be easilyconfigured to receive the HAM-TV streaming from the telebridge network. Raspberry PI has a video output (HDMI or Composite) to display/beamer. HAM-TV streaming from chainingtelebridge network Audio OUT
