This study involved determining Lead (Pb) and Cadmium (Cd) concentrations in Penaeus merguiensis De.Man shrimp from Segara Tambak, Sidoarjo, through FAAS. The Pb and Cd levels were assessed post sample preparation by wet ashing method. Shrimp samples were collected via a statistical, simple random sampling approach along the coast. The results showed Pb concentration in Penaeus merguiensis De.Man (Dry sample) at 13.1982 ± 0.9973 mg/kg and Cd concentration at 3.1226 ± 0.2545 mg/kg.

ABSTRACT The determination of Lead (Pb) and Cadmium (Pb) in shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis De Man) from Segara Tambak, Sedati, Sidoarjo by FAAS has been done. The concentration of Pb and Cd in Penaeus merguiensis De Man were determined after sampel preparation by wet ashing procedure. This shrimp were collected using statistic system, simple random sampling from coast directly. This showed that concentration of Pb in Penaeus merguiensis De Man (Dry sample) were (13,1982 ± 0,9973) mg/kg and the concentration of Cd were ( 3,1226 ± 0,2545) mg/kg. Key words : Penaeus merguiensis De Man, FAAS method, wet ashing, Pb, Cd.
