  1. Be it big or small every company at some time or another will need somebody to help with office relocation. Hopefully you need to move office as you might have expanded and your team size has doubled or you need the extra space for a new venture. Whatever the reason, office moves require the man and van company / office movers to be on point and totally professional. So when you compare the man and van / professional movers be sure to ask if they have experience in office moves.

  2. Choose the right place for you and your business Stop and think, does this place I am looking at tick all the boxes and also does it allow for room for expansion. Office moves are no good if the need to be done every time your business expands, spending a little more now might mean spending a lot less in the future. Is the location right, look at transport links, motorway routes and parking. Also take into account potential customers and employees getting to your new office. Moving your office to a remote location might be good for you but not so great for people coming to visit you.

  3. Have a good plan You or your office movers should have a clear plan of action. The office movers should take into account your office needs and if things need to go offline organising it in a way in which gets you online ASAP.

  4. Set a budget You need to know how much you can spend per month on your new office. Moving office and paying the office movers will be a large one off expense but paying the rent, utilities, council tax and any other office expenses that you need to pay monthly. You need to be realistic in terms of you affording the place don't plan for expansion but have no back up money set aside if it doesn't go well. Plan for at least 6-12 months of hardship while you get the new idea off the ground.

  5. Have good communication Just like moving home, moving office can be stressful for all involved including your employees especially if it means a longer commute to work. So try to involve them in the office move as much as possible, ask for their input and maybe get them to look into potential offices. You may have missed a gem. But ultimately the office move needs to be decided on what's best for the business and what's best for you. You will not be able to please everyone especially if when the office moves it will add to their working day but sometimes the employees need to be shown the bigger picture. If the company earns more money then it can reward its employees with more money.

  6. Choose the correct office movers Make sure to have somebody in charge with a track record in office moves. Don't just settle for the first quote you get be sure to look at 2 or 3 different websites and get quotes from all of these. You should get a good idea of what office movers have more experience than others and also what prices are reasonable and which ones are inflated. They will need a good team around then to ensure that the move goes without hiccup. They will also need to liaise and coordinate with you and your staff about the best way to carry out certain tasks. You may want give somebody the job of moving coordinator while the job is going on then that way you have somebody in house that knows the ins and outs of what's happening with the office move.

  7. Be confident and move on Make sure you have all your old files have been store in secure places and all date has been backed up. Make sure you have the correct office for your business needs, make sure it's on budget and that the office movers are the right men for the job.
