Tips for Success While your student will become more independent atDublin High School, it is still important to stay involved: • Learn who your student’s teachers are, meet them and be familiar with their websites. • Attend Back-to-School Night Thursday, August 29st 6:30-8 pm • Use Parent Portal regularly to track progress • Explore the tutoring opportunities, if needed • Gael Period and The Hub (M-F 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) • Go to DHS website, Resources, THE DHS HUB for tutor availability by subject • Get to know your student’s counselor • Attend extracurricular activities on campus: sports, music, culinary, drama, etc. • Attend the PFSO Monthly Meetings

Attendance Procedures Parents/Guardians of students who are absent fromschool are to clear their student’s absences by either: • Contacting the Attendance Office by phone 925-828-6413 each day the absence occurs; leave a message after school hours • Sending a note upon return to school signed by parent/guardian stating the reason and date of the absence Only a parent or legal guardian listed on the student’s emergency card can clear absences. All absences must be cleared within 2 days of return to school. Absences not cleared will be turned into cuts.

  9. Attendance Procedures Off Grounds Passes: Any student required to leaveschool during the school day must check out through the Attendance Office prior to leaving. Failure to check out will result in a cut. Tardies: Are taken very seriously. The penalties are as follows: For all tardies (cumulative throughout the year): # 5=30 minutes lunch time detention W # 7= one hour Saturday School detention # 9=two hoursSaturday School # 11= three hours Saturday School # 13= four hours Each hour after 13th will result in 4 hour S S.

  10. Freshmen-Specific Policies • Campus is closed for freshmen at lunch time. • Freshmen Mentoring Program (FMP) is held the first 20 minutes of the lunch hour on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. This program includes: • Counselor Visits • Orientation to DHS Policies and Happenings • Support from Junior and Senior Mentors • Homework Time • Team Building

  11. What is the PFSO? The DHS Parent Faculty Student Organization: • An independent, non-profit organization • All DHS parents and students are members • Faculty and administration are members • Dedicated to providing all students and teachers with financial support and community-building activities • Support each class’ fundraising efforts for a Safe & Sober Grad Night

Parent Class Representatives • Each Class has Parent Representatives • 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023 • Serve as liaison between students & PFSO • Work in conjunction with Class Faculty Advisors • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for student activities • Communicate with parents regarding class activities and volunteer opportunities • Oversee Homecoming activities with students • Organize Senior activities, including Senior Banquet and Grad Night • Supervise local student activities and initiate fundraisers for Grad Night account These heroic volunteers do A LOT for our students. When they ask for your help, please answer the call!

Parent Booster Organizations There are three major parent-organized Booster groups at DublinHigh School: • Parent Faculty Student Organization (PFSO): Meet the 4th Monday of each month during the school yearwww.dhspfso.com • Athletic Boosters: Meet the 2ndMonday of each month during the school yearwww.dhsathleticboosters.com • Irish Guard Music Boosters: Meet the 3rd Monday of each month during the school yearwww.dhsirishguard.org

  17. Get Involved! If your student is involved in eitherAthletics or Music, we encourage you to get involved with the Boosters. Parent volunteers in these organizations make the extra-curricular and co-curricular activities possible.

  18. PFSO Fundraising The PFSO General Fund supports ALL the students at DHS, including line-item funds for every education department. Funds come from: • Donations to the General Fund (you can donate by visiting our website http://www.dhspfso.com/and selecting ONLINE STORE) • Fireworks Booth (all three booster organizations partner to help staff and share equally in the proceeds) June 28th through July 4th • Raise Your Class Gaela (dinner dance with live and silent auction) • Corporate Matching Program PFSO Class Funds are used to support the Grad Night account for each class: • Donations to the Specific Class, plus various fundraisers organized by the Class Parent Representatives with support from Parent Volunteers Visit our website www.dhspfso.com to learn how your Amazon purchases can benefit the PFSO!

Additional Fundraising Other fundraising that occurs at DHS: • Associated Student Body (ASB) funds support Junior Prom and Senior Ball expenses for a particular class • Various fundraisers organized by student officers in each class • Individual Departments and Clubs/Groups support their own program needs: • Athletics, Music, Drama, individual academic departments, clubs • Various fundraisers organized throughout the year

Raise Your Class Gaela* Saturday, January 25th, 20206:30 to 11PM Shannon Community Center - Dublin Your evening will include Dinner, No-Host Bar, Dessert Dash, Silent Auction, Live Auction & Dancing! $75 per person or $700 for a table of 10 ($70 per person) if purchased before 11/15/2018. Ticket prices go up after November 15th , 2019 *Not a typo, just showing our Gael pride

Your Money At Work PFSO funds are used for a variety of activities and events at DHS: • Supplies for academic departments • Support of the DHS Library collection • Support for The Hub • Prep2Pass Study Nights Before Finals • Supports Back to School Night, Honors Night, Senior Awards Night, Future Freshman Night, and Staff Appreciation Luncheon • Awarding Ten (10) Scholarships to Graduating Seniors • Purchasing Student Awards

How You Can Help • Donate to the PFSO General Fund • Help at specific events, such as Homecoming, Raise Your Class Gaela, Fireworks Sales – watch for opportunities in emails from the PFSO and your Class Parent Representatives • Support your student’s class fundraisers and activities • Serve on a PFSO Committee • Attend PFSO Monthly Meetings – Help determine how the PFSO funds will be spent
