Realities God is always at work around us. God pursues a love relationship with us that is real and personal. God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes and His ways.
Realities When God speaks, that is His invitation for us to join Him in His work. God’s invitation for us to join Him always leads us to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.
Realities We must make major adjustments in our life to join God in what He is doing. We come to know God by experience as we obey Him and He accomplishes His work through us.
Knowing God 2 Peter 1:3-4
Knowing God 2 Peter 1:3 • we have been given everything we need for life and godliness • it has been given by Jesus’ divine power (resurrection)
Knowing God 2 Peter 1:3 • it has been given through our knowledge of God • it has been given because of God’s call to us (in Christ) • it has been given because of God’s goodness and glory
Knowing God 2 Peter 1:4 • through these ... goodness, glory, knowledge, calling, power - we have been given very great and precious promises
Knowing God 2 Peter 1:4 • so that we may partake of God’s divine nature ... doing good • and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires ... redeem the time for the days are evil
Knowing God As we obey God • Obedience is better than sacrifice • Obedience shows Lordship • Obedience demonstrates true love
Knowing God As God accomplishes His work through us • Offering grace, mercy, forgiveness • Living as examples of God’s design
