  1. KNOWING GOD (Part 2) Can you sum up last week in one sentence or one thought?

  2. THE TWO KEY INGREDIENTS TO KNOWING GOD • God’s Word • Prayer

  3. WORD OF GOD Colossians 3:16 Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly… Luke 24:32 – Did not our hearts burn as he (Christ) opened the Scriptures… Pray Over And Study The Word Until It Burns In You (don’t let go until God speaks)

  4. STUDY THE WORD The Key Thing To Aim At When Studying God’s Word Find out what the AUTHOR’SORIGINAL INTENTION was for his AUDIENCE to understand (what God intended through the author for his audience to understand)

  5. 3 Simple Steps Context Questions Ask & Answer Apply The intended application Make it personal

  6. Meditation “Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ…” Memorization Write it down Use a concordance Read through Bible in a year – 72 hours; = 12 minutes a day NAVS – Discipleship Journal - Bible Reading Plan

  7. Use many different versions if you can Colossians 3:21 KJV - Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. NAS - Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart. NIV - Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. NLT - Fathers, don't aggravate your children. If you do, they will become discouraged and quit trying. NRS - Fathers, do not provoke your children, or they may lose heart. MSG - Parents, don't be hard on your children. If you are, they might give up. WE - Fathers, do not make your children angry. They might stop trying to do right.

  8. Why I Love the Word of God Because Jesus believed it was powerful (Luke 4) Because Jesus was equated with it (John 1:1-18; Rev 19:13) Because God created the world by His Word (Gen 1; Ps 33:6) Because it changes lives (2 Timothy 3:16) Because it is foundational to the Church and the Christian life (Acts 2:42)

  9. Because it is the only authoritative thing we have (2 Timothy 3:16) Because it keeps us from sin (Psalm 119:9-11) Because one of the great qualifications for being approved by God is that we rightly use His Word (2 Tim 2:15)

  10. Psalm 138:2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
