  5. Dante’s Reaction • This is one of the worst sins according to Dante • Compares them to prostitutes • “O Simon Magus! O scum that followed him! Those things of God that rightly should be wed to holiness, you, rapacious creatures, for the price of gold and silver, prostitute.” (Canto XIX.1-4) • Dante rules this punishment fair • Attacked Nicholas and others
