  3. Greek Art Periods • 600 - 480 BC - Archaic Period • Similar to Egyptian style • 480 - 323 BC - Classic Period • Change in posture, facial expressions, draped clothing • 323 - 150 BC - Hellenistic Period • Shows more emotion

  4. Archaic Period • Started out similar to Egyptian style • Contrapposto- standing with a leg in front

  5. Kritios Boy480 BC - end of Archaic Period • Example of Greek statue where the arms and legs are separate and its not built into a block - free standing • Right leg is in front, right hip drops down, one knee is lower than the other - more natural pose

  6. Classic Period • Changes in posture, facial features are more realistic, added draped cloth • Charioteer of Delphi Three Goddesses

  7. Hellenistic Period • Art showed more emotion • Dying Gaul - life size sculpture of a wounded man • Shows agony and pain in the facial expression and pose
