  1. Kim Kelly BIA NWRO GIS Specialist for Fuels, Preparedness, and WUI Programs and NWCC GACC GIS Coordinator (Oregon & Washington)

  2. Agency Risk Assessment NWRO Coordination Over-site NFPORS Fuels Accomplishments General GIS Support How GIS can Support the Northwest Regional OfficeFuels and WUI Programs?

  3. NWRO Coordination Over-site GIS Support Northwest Regional Coordination & Over-site • Coordination • Follow Northwest Forest Plan • Encourage Partnerships (Tribal, Federal, State, Local) • Administer a GIS Survey to understand overall Tribal needs as they relate to the Fire, Fuels, and WUI Program. Made some site visits this spring, would like to develop a comprehensive workplan with further input from other Tribes. • Coordinate Regional Data Standards for common datasets. (guidelines). • Focus on Regional Needs • Technical • Review how National Applications can assist with making decisions at Reservation, Project, and Landscape Scale. Landfire - Farsite - FlamMap - MAGIS - NRIS Informs

  4. NFPORS Fuels Accomplishments GIS Support NFPORS Fuels Accomplishments • Quality check Project Locations in NFPORS (better lat/long input) • Explore development of creating a tool interface to dynamically link NFPORS with GIS Datasets (point locations & treatment units and treatment polygons). • Develop an internal process to implement creation of treatment polygons for input into NFPORS. (GPS and heads up digitizing) • There are some possibilities to do a pilot test with the USGS to: 1) Uploading Treatments via the internet (ArcIms). 2) Using ArcIms as a GIS Web Service to link directly to the NFPORS polygon and database information.

  5. Agency Risk Assessment GIS Support Agency Risk Assessment (Local Support) • Planning – Develop 5 – 10 Year Treatment Plan at Risk, FRCC, Fire Behavior Modeling (Landfire, Farsite etc). • RAWS - GIS Link to RAWS Observations • FPA – Become involved with the Fuels Module Development

  6. General GIS Support General GIS Support • Training Opportunities • Tools Development • Process Development • Communication/Coordination • Helpful Links to tools and GIS support information • Help acquire datasets from a Regional Level • Act as NWR BIA Representative for Landfire
