Understanding Universal Design for Learning: A Framework for Inclusive Education

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a research-based framework aimed at providing equitable access to education for all learners. It emphasizes flexible approaches in presentation, expression, and engagement, allowing students to acquire knowledge and demonstrate their understanding in various ways. UDL reduces barriers to the curriculum while maintaining high achievement standards. This framework is built on three key principles: recognition, strategic, and affective networks. Educators can implement UDL strategies to create inclusive environments that meet diverse learning needs.
