  2. Welcome • We are here tonight to help parents have a better understanding of the standards taught and the curriculum used in the classroom. We will look at specific grade level curriculum and assessments used and what your child needs to know to be successful in the current grade and to move to the next grade level.

State’s Academic Content/Achievement Standards • Where to find them? • Gray Elementary Web Page • http://jones.gray.schooldesk.net/Click on teacher tab, click on your grade level, click on curriculum tab, click on desired information. • Jones County District Web Page: http://jones.schooldesk.net/ Click on tab: District, then click on Departments, click on Curriculum and Instruction (you have two options here). Either under Quick Links: click on Common Core Georgia Performance Standards, then choose CCGPSELA/Math tab, then choose English Language Arts or Math, click k-5, then grade level. You may also access the standards under JCSS curriculum Documents: click on 2013-2014 K-5 Curriculum documents, then choose your grade level pacing guides or curriculum maps.

  5. State and Local Tests • Grade level assessments • Nine Weeks Benchmark Assessments (Diagnostic Only) • STAR (used to determine reading levels)

  6. Expectations for the Remainder of the Year • Students should be reading at a 1.9 reading level or higher by the end of the year. • Students should read 60 words correct per minute • Students should be able to fluently add and subtract within 20. • Students should have a deep understanding of place value (hundreds, tens, and ones). This will aid in two digit addition and subtraction with regrouping in second grade. • Students should be able to tell time to the hour and half hour fluently (analog).
