ATA was created to advance thetranslation and interpreting professions and foster the professional development of individual translators and interpreters. It is governed by its Bylaws, which define the scope and nature of its activities, andan elected Board of Directors, which manages the business of the association. They have around 10k members including translators, interpreters, teachers, project managers, web and software developers, language company owners, hospitals, universities, and governmentagencies. What theydo? It’s primary mission is to promote the professional development of translators. It offers a certification exam that allows translators to demonstrate that they meet certain standards of the translation profession. Some information can go a long way towards helpingbuyers find the rightprofessional. 1
