  2. What is GSA? • Started in 1988 • Student clubs to improve school climate • Doesn’t matter sexual orientation • Open to anyone on campus • Just like any other club in school • Found in all 50 states • Also found in Puerto Rico, Columbia, and military bases

  4. Challenges • Getting the club started: Many schools don’t want GSA clubs • 1 in 4 kids are bullied every day • 900,000 kids are bullied each day in America • Students have a hard time feeling comfortable about coming out

  5. Legal Facts • Public schools have to allow GSA clubs • GSA has to be treated equally to other clubs • Schools cannot prohibit students from being apart of GSA clubs even if other sources disagree
