  4. Our Client • Client Introduction The office of Diversity Initiatives (ODI) at the University of Maryland University College. The client contact is the Director of Diversity Initiatives, Mr. Ernesto Santos-DeJesus. ODI responds to request and provides cultural and diversity information to UMUC and the general public • Current Problem Currently ODI provides information via phone or standard mail. As a result there is no central repository where information is stored and access to information is only available during certain business hours. • Our Solution Provides a centralized location for information. Reduces amount of time needed to respond to request and provide information. The added benefit of developing the VCC is that it provides an excellent opportunity for the UMUC Office of Diversity Initiatives to have a more virtual presence and be accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

  5. VCC Project Development Process We used the spiral methodology for our development as depicted in the chart below:

  6. VCC Project Development Process Detail • Project Initiation: The project is identified, the team is selected and the project proposal and market survey are developed. • Planning: The Project team defines activities, schedules and plans specific to the project. • Requirements: The application requirements are elicited and formally defined. • Design: The application design is developed and formally designed. • Implementation: The application is implemented and tested. • Installation: The application is deployed to the client's environment, acceptance testing is conducted, and the user base is trained. • Delivery: All relevant project documentation is given to the client.
