Supreme Court of Canada declares a historic victory for horse racing • In a historic ruling with wide-reaching implications , the Supreme Court of Canada has declared that financial losses from active involvement in the horse racing industry can be the result of a serious business activity and not subject to the $8,750 deduction limit under Section 31 of the Income Tax Act for losses from such activities as hobby farming.
