Understanding the Electromagnetic Spectrum and Its Impact on Life

Explore the diverse electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to gamma rays, and their vital effects on humans and the world. Learn about the importance of visible light, radio waves, X-rays, and more, revealing how life as we know it depends on these waves. Discover the significance of transparency, translucency, and absorption in interacting with light.

  1. Electromagnetic Spectrum Kaitlynn N Lanter: 11/8/10 period 5

  2. The Electromagnetic Wave Spectum

  3. The spectrum • The electromagnetic spectrum is the distribution of electromagnetic radiation according to energy • Radio, Microwave, Infrared, Visible, Ultraviolet, X-rays, and Gamma rays are all part of the electromagnetic spectrum

  4. Effects of electromagnetic Waves on humans • First and foremost, I must point out that visible light is a part of the spectrum without it we would all be blind! • Nowadays everyone without radio waves this would be impossible. • X-rays are another common electromagnetic wave. These enable us to see the human bones without cutting a person up. • Along with other types of electromagnetic waves, life would not be. Nothing would exist.

  5. Transparency • allows light to pass through a material.

  6. Translucency • only allows light to pass through a material diffusely

  7. Absorption • All objects will absorb some light and reflect some light
