Stanford researchers used MRIs on nearly 60 patients during guided hypnosis sessions to uncover what happened in di몭erent parts of the organ. They found that blood 몭ow was altered in di몭erent parts of the brain, including the part of the brain associated with focus. The MRIs also revealed heightened connections in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the insula, which researchers described as the parts of the brain that help identify and process the body’s functions. Finally, researchers found that the brain had lowered connectivity between people’s actions and their awareness of their actions.
