  1. How Heat Resistant is Quartz Countertop?

  2. Time and time again people have had one question for quartz slab manufacturers in India and abroad - are quartz countertops as heat resistant as their natural counterparts marble and granite? • The short answer is yes but it does come with a catch! • Here’s more to it – • Quartz countertops are heat resistant but cannot remain undamaged if they are being subjected to a lot of heat over a long time. • These countertops are made using the mineral quartz which is then mixed with resins, pigments, and sealants. The additives present in a typical slab of quartz cannot remain undamaged when exposed to heat that surpasses the 150 degrees Fahrenheit limit. • So what will happen when quartz countertops are subjected to heat sources that surpass the 150 degrees Fahrenheit limit? • The source of the heat will scorch the area on the quartz countertop and leave brown or yellow scorch marks. This happens due to the burning of the resin on the countertop. • Is there a solution to this? • Yes, and that is asking your quartz countertop supplier to repair the same.

  3. Is there any way to prevent heat-related damage to quartz countertops? • There are plenty of ways to prevent quartz countertops from getting damaged due to excessive heat. Some of the most effective ones are mentioned below - • In order to protect quartz countertops from getting scorched, one would need to use trivets or hot pads. These can be used as a form of barrier between an extremely hot object like a hot pan and the countertop thus keeping the latter from sustaining heat damage. • One can also use coasters when they are serving a cup of tea or coffee to their loved ones seated next to the countertop in the kitchen. • Another step to keep countertops from developing scorch marks is to blot out spilled hot liquids as soon as they fall on the countertop. This will keep the countertop safe.

  4. Other ways to protect quartz countertops • Avoid spilling acidic liquids such as lemon juice, soda, or wine on quartz countertops. • Never use acidic/alkaline cleaners or bleach to clean quartz countertops. • Use only neutral pH (pH=7) cleaner only • Avoid using abrasive cleaning pads to wipe or clean a quartz countertop. It is best to use a cotton rag or a soft sponge for cleaning purposes. • Avoid using the countertop as a cutting board. Use a cutting board instead while chopping vegetables.

  5. Quartz countertops find extensive applications in the kitchens of homes and eateries alike. The reason is simple to understand by now and quartz countertops can remain useable even when it is subjected to extreme heat sources for a considerable amount of time but there is a catch – overdo it and you may damage the countertop beyond repair. The solution to this predicament is to make sure that you follow the tips mentioned in the sections above – it is as simple as that!
