MORAL COLLAPSE • Sin became rampant, Hos. 1:2; 7:1, 4-7; 4:1-3 (Isa. 1:4) • Israel’s heart was hardened toward her sin, Hos. 7:2-3; Amos 5:12-13 • This made judgment certain, Hos. 9:7; 10:4 • Israel lost her conscience toward God and man, 7:2, 7 (14) Absence of conscience toward God and man Hosea 7:1-7

MORAL COLLAPSE • When the works of the flesh are our source of recreation and entertainment, Gal. 5:19-21; 1 Jno. 2:15 • When immodest clothing is worn and defended, 1 Tim. 2:9 • When adulterous remarriages are defended and defenders of truth are scorned, Matt. 19:9; 1 Cor. 7:10-11 • When Christians are filled with pride, selfishness, anger, jealous envy and factiousness, Jas. 3:14-16; 4:1-3 Christians are losing reverence for God and respect for men Acts 24:16; 1 Tim. 1:5; 4:2; Titus 1:15

RELIGIOUS COLLAPSE • Israel was to be a separate nation, Exo. 19:5-6 • Was to conquer and have no covenants with people of Canaan, Deut. 7:1-6 • But… • Idolatry, Hos. 4:11-13, 17 • Hypocrisy, Hos. 6:4-6 (9) • Alliances with the worldly, Hos. 7:11 (5:13, 11); 13:9-11 • False prophets, Hos. 9:7-9 The presence of compromise Hosea 7:8-12

  5. RELIGIOUS COLLAPSE • Unity in diversity (Rom. 14) • False teachers are afforded honor while truth teachers are scorned • We are to have no compromise with sin in any form, 1 Jno. 4:1; Rev. 2:2; Jude 3; 2 Jno. 10-11; Gal. 2:4-5 Compromise is present among Christians 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1

  6. SPIRITUAL COLLAPSE • About past redemption, Hos. 7:13; Micah 6:3-5 • About God’s present help, Hos. 7:14 • About her blessings from God, Amos 6:1, 3-7 The presence of complacency Hosea 7:13-16

SPIRITUAL COLLAPSE • No longer eager to join in the gospel work, Acts 2:42 • Lethargic about worship services, Heb. 10:24-25 • When Christians will not read the Bible, Rom. 10:14 • When Christians will not teach the lost, Acts 8:4 • When Christians are ashamed of righteous living, 2 Tim. 1:8 Complacency can still consume God’s people Romans 12:11

  8. ISRAEL’S HOPE • Repent of sins, Hos. 6:1 (Acts 2:38; 8:22) • Will be forgiven, Hos. 6:2 (Jas. 5:15-16; 1 Jno. 1:9) • Learn and know God, Hos. 6:3 (Matt. 11:28-30) Turn to God in genuine conversion Hosea 6:1-3 (1:10; 14:1-4)
