ARVO was founded in 1928 Membership just over 13,200 individuals, continues to grow. 42% of members reside in over 70 countries outside U.S. Membership is multidisciplinary and consists of both clinical and basic researchers. Approximately 44% MD/Ophthalmologists, 26% PhD's, and 30% Other, which includes optometrists, osteopaths, and veterinarians.
