This study explores the effectiveness of the POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) methodology versus traditional lecture formats in organic chemistry courses at various educational institutions. Data from randomized enrollment with different instructors demonstrated significant differences in student performance and preparedness for subsequent courses. Results reveal that students in POGIL sections achieved better outcomes, including lower withdrawal rates and higher exam scores, highlighting the benefits of engaging, inquiry-based learning strategies in enhancing student understanding and retention.
