  1. Oxford University Particle Physics Grid Report Pete Gronbech Systems Manager GridPP 3rd Collaboration Meeting

  2. Progress / History • Initial Test machine/s • CDF equipment • TB1 test setup….. • People GridPP 3rd Collaboration Meeting

  3. grid.physics.ox.ac.uk • Initial installations (on grid and pplinuxdev) used globus 1.1.3 installed using the globus method. (Aug 2000 & Oct 2000) • Later reinstalled from RPM’s 1.1.3-5 (July 2001) and1.1.3-6 with UK host certificate (Nov 2001) • grid machine modified to be front end for LHCb Monte Carlo; OpenAFS, Java, OpenPBS, Openssh installed(Nov 2001) GridPP 3rd Collaboration Meeting

  4. Lhcb Monte Carlo Setup Compute Node Grid Gateway 8 way 700MHz Xeon Server RH6.2OpenAFSOpenPBS gridRH6.2Globus1.1.3OpenAFSOpenPBS GridPP 3rd Collaboration Meeting

  5. CDF System Morpheus is an IBM x370 8 way SMP 700MHz Xeon 4GB RAM 1TB Fibre Channel disks Purchased as part of a JIF grant for the cdf group Runs Red Hat 7.1 Globus 1.1.3-6 rpms UKHEP Certificates Uses cdf software developed at Fermilab. Identical systems at Glasgow,Liverpool, UCL and RAL. GridPP 3rd Collaboration Meeting

  6. TB1 - Learning Curve • First attempt using kickstart method. Crashed with anaconda errors. • Proved to myself that I could do an NFS install from a copy of the RH62 on the NFS server. • Created a kickstart file, used that successfully from the NFS server. • Read on TB-support mail list that kickstart method no longer supported. • Decide to try manual method. • Pulled all CE rpms to my NFS server. Tried simple rpm -i *.rpm which failed • Will use the LCFG method. GridPP 3rd Collaboration Meeting

  7. People • Ian McArthur and Pete Gronbech – 30% • Frank Harris LHCb grid coordinator • Carmine Cioffi - Working on LHCb and gridifying gaudi • Alexander Soroko – LHCb/ATLAS ganga (UI to gaudi) • A. N. Other – CDF -SAM • Kevin Watkins – Graduate Student CDF SAM ( /grid ) • Lee Momtahan – Joint project with Computing Laboratory. UML modelling (EPSRC) GridPP 3rd Collaboration Meeting
