  2. Report Purpose • Communicate to the Metro Austin business community ACC’s progress in areas important to regional economic growth • Identify where more rapid performance gains may be necessary • Identify how the business community can provide support to help ensure ACC’s success

Labor Force Need • In the past year, ACC increased its production goals: ACC now plans to supply 90 percent of workers potentially qualified to fill projected new and replacement jobs by 2014. • Recommendation: ACC should continue the programs/policies that will allow it to reach this goal. 73% of Labor Force Need

  5. Labor Force Need 69% of Labor Force Need • ACC plans to supply 90 percent of projected allied health talent need by 2014. • Recommendation: ACC should continue the programs/policies that will allow it to reach this goal.

Labor Force Need • ACC’s current goals do not include supplying 90 percent of projected technology-related talent need by 2015. • Recommendation: In 2011, ACC should increase its 2015 targets for technology-related programs to produce at least 90 percent of projected, technology-related talent need. 27% of Labor Force Need

  8. Student Success Rate (Full and Part-time) • The Task Force commends ACC for implementing its Student Success Initiative and for supporting the American Association of Community Colleges initiative to improve student success rates by 50 percent over the next ten years. • Recommendation: ACC should establish 2020 student success rate goals at levels 50 percent higher than 2009 rates, with reasonable interim annual projections.

Overall Enrollment • Recommendation: ACC should increase its enrollment projections to 49,177 by 2015 (the Austin Chamber’s 2010 by 20.010 goal) to ensure Metro Austin will remain one of the most educated talent pools. 2009 Enrollment: 37,850 2015 “2010 by 20,010” Goal: 49,177 2015 ACC Goal: 46,868

Accountability Policy • RecoThe ACC board should define and adopt in 2011 and periodically review a policy on community accountability that mandates an agreed reporting framework on aspects of ACC performance and capacity that are of community interest but are not required by external authorities. • Once a satisfactory set of measures is developed and has been reported, targets for the measures should be updated as part of the ACC planning process, with community input. mmendation

Possible Annexations • Annexation Petitions Certified for Nov. 2010 Elections • Bastrop ISD • Elgin ISD • Hays CISD • McDade ISD • San Marcos CISD • Recommendation: To enhance ACC’s ability to enact the Task Force’s recommendations, the Metro Austin business community should strongly and actively support efforts to expand ACC’s taxing district. • ACC 2009-10 tax rate • 9.46 ¢ per $100 of assessed property value • ACC 2010-11 Tuition • In-district: $42 per credit hour • Out-of-district: $150 per credit hour
