  1. CrowdVoice.org is a user-powered, open-source platform that tracks voices of protest worldwide by curating information.

  2. The application crowdsources valuable, original-source data, including eyewitness accounts, videos, photographs, blog posts, and news reports to quickly, effectively, and meaningfully raise awareness, disseminate knowledge, and share developments regarding the multitude of social justice movements around the world. 

  3. Everyone can add a voice, either by sharing original content or by helping to moderate and approve already submitted content by perusing the available information and media.

  4. CrowdVoice also works to build the online civil society network, cultivate relationships between users, and meet the needs ofthe platform’s varied visitors.

  5. The target audiences are as follow:  Civil society activists looking to share their stories, access information, join a support network, and offer a unique, visual, and interactive glimpse into their experiences in order to paint a meaningful picture of the developments across the world for the three audiences noted below. Everyday Internet users looking to connect with civil society activists, learn about the world’s movements, assist in disseminating information in order to raise awareness among less cognizant communities, and join a well-informed global network of concerned citizens and activists. Mainstream and alternative media looking to quickly incorporate contextualized, meaningfully organized, original-sourced material into reports and articles as a way to comprehensively cover the social and political movements around the world.  High-level officials and advocates looking to hold serial rights abusers accountable using international human rights mechanisms will be able to strengthen their cases by incorporating the platform’s archive of evidence (videos, witness accounts, and more) into proceedings and complaints (such as at the ICC).

  6. We recently launched an infographic layer that contextualizes a wide range of information by providing stats and a summary of the issue in a visual way. By click on each “infobox,” a user is redirected to a page that contains the references on where each number came from, as well as a wide range of backup sources and updates.
