  3. Using Asset Mapping to Build Support for youth at risk What is Asset Mapping An Approach to Community Planning that allows regions to mobilize their community strengths to build supports around issues. Instead of trying to ‘fix’ problems, the focus is on bringing regions into balance.

Using Asset Mapping to Build Support for youth at risk Why is Asset Mapping Useful? • It provides an opportunity for communities to develop their own solutions to issues within their region • It recognizes that communities have strengths and resources and allows them to build on the resources already in their community

It also identifies the missing assets (or gaps) within each community. • This approach allows for partnerships with other agencies/supports within the region. Community ‘gaps’ generally need one or more partners to address
