Executive Order 13514 - Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance • “…to establish an integrated strategy towards sustainability in the Federal Government and to make reduction of greenhouse gas emissions a priority for Federal agencies” • Exec. Order No. 13,514, 74 Fed. Reg. 52,117 (Oct. 8, 2009).
Executive Order 13514 - Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance • Sec. 2. Para. (h). Advance sustainable acquisition – • Energy efficient, water efficient, biobased, environmentally preferable, non-ozone depleting, recycled content, or non-toxic or less-toxic • Promote electronics stewardship • Sec. 13. Recommendations for Vendor and Contractor Emissions
Legislative activity HR 1766 & S 1830 – Amend Title 40, U.S. Code, to authorize state and local procurement of environmentally preferable “green” products and services from GSA Schedule contracts.
