  3. NPHS Cheer Overview • What do NP cheerleaders do? • SPIRIT SQUAD!!!! • Main goal is to support school spirit • Not just football • Represent Newbury Park High School around school AND outside of school • HIGH STANDARDS

Attendance • Attendance at all events (unless otherwise stated) is REQUIRED. • Work is NOT an excuse. • School work is NOT an excuse. • Grades will reflect attendance • – 2% for every absence • – 1% if late or leave early • “Make-up” points can be earned by attending extra events. Communicate with Mrs. Skaff to set this up

Schedule • Schedules for each season will be posted on www.nphscheer.com before the season begins. • You are responsible for keeping track of the schedule and keeping all the dates in your calendar! • The weekly schedule will also be posted on Mondays. • IF IT IS ON THE WEBSITE…YOU ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW IT!!!

  6. Schedule • Sometimes announcements may be posted on the cheer Facebook group as well… “friend” NPHS Cheer and join the group! • Google Calendar!

  7. Schedule – Summer • Summer practice is required! • Cheers will be posted on the website. You are expected to know all of these by the first day of practice in July • Youth Camp (July 23rd – 26th) • CHEER CAMP!!! (August 6th – 9th at KNOTTS BERRY FARM!) • Soak City =)

Schedule – During The Year • Practice on Mondays and Wednesdays • 2:15 -4:30 during football season, may change during winter and spring • ATTENDENCE IS REQUIRED • Games • All football games (home and away) • Girls and Boys home basketball games (winter) • Boys Lacrosse, Volleyball, Baseball, and sometimes girls lacrosse in Spring

  9. Schedule – During The Year • Other • Ambassador duties (such as Freshman Orientation) • Fundraisers – Car Wash on the 18th of May! • Spirit events

  10. Practice… • You MUST be dressed out for practice. This means: • Appropriate clothing • Hair UP • Correct shoes • If you are not dressed correctly, your grade will be reduced =(

  11. Expectations: Appearance • Hair should be pulled back for every cheer event. YOU SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE YOU ROLLED OUT OF BED. • No jewelry of ANY type • Nails should be NUDE or CLEAR unless the squad decides to paint them all another color (such as black and yellow) • No pink hair in uniform

  12. Expectations: Behavior • Foul language while in uniform will not be tolerated, ever. • Cheerleaders are expected to act responsibly anytime in cheer clothing (on/off campus) • “On time is late” Please always arrive early!! • Dress appropriately for practice (safe shoes are a MUST)

  13. Expectations: Behavior • ALWAYS ALWAYSALWAYS act kind toward other students AND other schools • This includes social networks (please think before you post items on facebook/twitter/ instagram) • NOTHING IS PRIVATE…trust me 
