Nicole Sanders(469)742-8500 Nicole_Sanders@lovejoyisd.net School cheerleader for seven years, and dancer 14 years, training under the choreographer and director of the musical TEXAS! in Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo. Mother of former Lovejoy middle school through Varsity Cheerleader and a rising seventh grade WSMS cheerleader. Also served on the executive board for LHS spirit/cheer club two years.

Requirements • Must be in 7th or 8th grade for the 2013-2014 school year. • Sign-up for cheerleading through the regular registration process, All girls will go through tryouts for judging at LHS regular tryouts– CUTS WILL NOT BE MADE for middle school. Judges will rate and score girls, which will determine squad placement - supports safety for girls according to skill level. Paperwork for tryouts must be turned in by Friday, February 28 for all girls signed up for cheerleading. • Cheerleader is responsible for purchasing required items. • All cheerleaders must have a physical turned in to the sponsors or WSMS front office before camp in June • Cheerleaders must maintain an average of a 70 to be eligible to participate. • Commitment for the entire school year

Requirements continued • Cheerleaders MUST attend cheerleading camp JUNE 9-11thno exceptions- this is where the girls learn all their material for football season- ½ time performances and dances; it is also a huge team building time for our squads. If your child cannot attend these camp dates, she will not be allowed to participate in cheer this year. • Cheerleaders are to be familiar with the contents of the cheerleader information packet and abide by the contents within. • Reminder - While girls will not be cut, ALL GIRLS MUST GO THROUGH CHEER TRYOUTS for judging and placement on Red/Black cheer squads based on ability and judges scores. Tryout forms are due February 28 to Stacey Hancock in WSMS student support.

Uniforms • Required uniforms will be purchased through Varsity Spirit. • The required items are: shell (top) + lettering and skirt pair of briefs 1 midriff turtle neck Socks Shoes 1 set of pompoms 1 bow Warm up top and bottom (to wear under uniform at school) 3 standard t-shirts (camp wear and practice wear) 3 pairs of shorts (camp wear and practice wear) 1 cheer bag + lettering - Optional Cheerleader/parent long sleeved T ($35)

  7. Willow Springs Cheerleading Uniform 8thgrade uniforms will be red and same uniform as currently own 7thgrade uniform will be black (see picture). Fabric is flexible and breathable for better wear and performance* 7th grade example

Estimated Uniform Cost and Payment Estimated cost for uniforms- (8th) shell & skirt $113.00 (have under armor, boy shorts and other items) (7th) shell & skirt $132.00 Estimated Varsity total- (8th) $442.00 (7th) $461.00 Due dates for payments/options will be discussed at March 24 parent meeting. *Deposit due by March 27 with final due by April 15. – camp payment also due April 15.

  9. Uniforms continued • Uniform fitting is March 27th beginning at 4:15 pm (8th graders), 6:00 pm (7th graders). Uniforms must be paid for, in full by 4pm on April 15th. • Cheerleading uniforms are non-refundable and customized items are not returnable. • Returning cheerleaders MUSTbring/wear their full uniforms to fitting for sizing approval.

  12. Physicals Students are required to have a physical on file before participating in cheerleading camp. • You may use your personal physician. Please use the LISD Physical Forms are available in the WCMS front office at the beginning after the mass physical date below(colored cardstock). • LISD will be holding their first mass sport physical examination held May 10 for $20. We also have physical forms available.

  13. Cheerleading Camp Camp is mandatory. Cost: $169.00 Fee is due with your cheer forms by April 15th to the front office. Please place in an envelope with your cheerleader’s name on the front. Checks made payable to WSMS; please write cheer camp in notes section (you may write one check for both the camp fee AND the uniform.) Location: WSMS Main Gym, pack lunch and water Date: (Monday-Wednesday) June 9th-11th, 2014 Time: Day 1 - 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Day 2/3 - 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

  14. To Remain Eligible, Students Must: • Cheerleaders must fulfill all cheerleading obligations throughout the school year. Members of the cheerleading squad are expected to make a commitment to the activity for the full school year. • Cheerleaders must be self-motivated and willing to participate in activities with a good attitude. • Cheerleaders must be responsible for themselves, their actions, and their cheerleading uniforms and equipment.

  15. Maintain Eligibility continued • The cheerleaders are to attend all games, practices, as required by the sponsor(s). Outside extra curricular activities not school related are unexcused. Cheerleaders will be expected to make up missed major grades (performances) with a cheer essay, choreographed dance/ cheer, or other cheer-related assignment assigned by the sponsor. • There must be successful communication between squad members and sponsor to promote harmony and success for all parties. Facebook, Instagram or Twitter posts about squad, squad members, or squad business are not allowed. • Grades In order to be eligible for any nine-week period following the initial nine-week period of the school year, a student shall not have a recorded grade average lower than a 70, on a scale of 0-100, in any course for the preceding three-week period.

  16. Game Time! • 7th grade cheerleaders are to attend all of the 7th grade home football games. • Games will be held at the WSMS field. Parents are responsible for transportation. • 7th and 8thgrade cheerleaders are to attend all of the home 8th grade football games. Home games rotate between 7th and 8th each week Cheerleaders will not attend away games. • Last year games were on Tuesdays each week for either 7th or 8th grade.

  18. Basketball Games • 7th grade cheerleaders will cheer at their assigned7thgrade boys’ home basketball games. This year, games were at 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30, and fell on Monday or Tuesday. Cheerleaders are expected to be on the court in uniform 15 minutes before their scheduled game time. • 8th grade cheerleaders will cheer at their assigned 8th grade boys’ home basketball games. This year, games were at 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30, and fell on Thursday. Cheerleaders are expected to be on the court in uniform 15 minutes before their scheduled game time. • Again, games times and days have not been determined for Willow Springs at this time. • Cheerleaders will not attend away games.

  19. Additional Required Performances • Leopard Friday- date TBD • Pep Rallies (4) – dates TBD • Competitions/performances as determined by coach/sponsor

Don’t forget… IMPORTANT DATES • February 28 Tryout Paperwork and Forms due to WSMS student Support Office • March 10-13 Cheer Clinic (bus transportation provided from WSMS to LHS) • March 14 try outs, scoring from judges and placement on squads 2014-2015 for all 7th and 8th grade girls. Cuts will NOT be made. • March 24 Cheer Parent Meeting WSMS – go over uniform prior to fitting • March 27 Cheer fitting and uniform/camp deposit and paperwork due and Cheer Waiver Form must be notarized and turned in this date • April 15 FINALuniform and camp payment due • May 10 Physicals Offered by Lovejoy ISD • June 9-11 Mandatory Cheer Camp and physicals must be turned in to participate

  21. March 27 Camp deposit and Uniform Fitting • Cheerleader Release Form DUE – must be notarized • Camp fee $169.00 deposit payable to WSMS, please write for 13-14 cheer camp. Deposit for uniforms are also due. Remember all physicals must be on file with Lovejoy ISD to participate in cheer camp June 9-11.
