MRCMission Statement The Mission of the Multicultural Resource Center at Binghamton University is to educate the campus community through initiatives designed to increase awareness and understanding of cultural diversity, its significance in the advancement of all fields of endeavor and in navigating our world.

  4. Multicultural Resource Center Core Services • The MRC provides diversity training and education for the university staff and students using the Building Bridges to Cultural Competency Program. Training sessions are offered for staff four times annually. Student trainings target student leaders and staff on campus such as Orientation advisors, residential assistants, and new students. • The MRC facilitates programs that fall under four primary programmatic initiatives: (1) student recruitment, (2) student retention, (3) educational development and (4) inclusive community building. • The MRC is a resource center in that we directly provide funds to cultural student organizations on campus seeking to provide programs that are educational, culturally inclusive and encourage diversity within the university community.

  6. MRC Monthly Culture connects newsletter Culture Connects is a monthly newsletter published by the Multicultural Resources Center that allows Binghamton University students, faculty, and staff to stay up to date on past and upcoming campus-wide events and programs.

  12. Multicultural Resource CenterSignature Programs • MRC Cultural Fair - An inclusive community activity which will occur in the Fall semester. (Fall Semester) • MRC Diversity Talk Shows – An educational development activity which occurs bi-weekly. (bi-weekly) • MRC Mentoring Program The College Experience- A professional development activity in which current students mentor students at Binghamton High School (academic year) • Staff and student trainings – An educational development and inclusive community activity which run throughout the year. (academic year) • Global Fiesta– An inclusive community activity which will occur in the Fall semester. (Fall Semester) • MRC Leadership Forum – A retention activity which seeks to enhance the leadership skills of our students (Spring semester)

Multicultural Resource CenterPrograms and Services • MRC Cultural Fair: Provides an opportunity for ALL BU student to explore ways to get involved and for ALL BU cultural student organizations to promote their organization's activities and reach more students. The Culture Fair is FREE and open to the entire campus community at the beginning of Fall semester.

  14. Multicultural Resource CenterPrograms and Services • The MRC Diversity Talk Shows: provides students with an opportunity to discuss topics of interest in multiculturalism of interest to them. In the Spring semester, MRC partnered with Binghamton Television BTV6 and produced six shows focusing on Racism, LGBTQ Issues, Gender Discrimination, Asian Perspectives and Stress/Culture.   15. Multicultural Resource CenterPrograms and Services MRC Global Fiesta A Celebration of Religious/Non-Religious holidays throughout the year and around the world. This events invites students, staff and faculty together prior to the winter recess. • See performances from cultural groups at Binghamton. • Taste holiday foods from different holidays. This is a free event! Attend with your residents!

  17. MRC Trainings & Workshops “Building Bridges to Cultural Competency” Twice in October/March for Students October/ April/June for Faculty & Staff Provided to university staff & students throughout the year!
