  1. DANAMI-2 late Objective: To compare fibrinolysis with long distance transport for pPCI. Study: Multicenter, randomized trial (24 referring hospitals, 5 PCI centers). Population: STEMI patients presenting within 12 hours of complaints. Patients randomized to PCI in referring hospital were transported to PCI center (median transfer time 67 min). End point: Composite of death and non fatal re-MI at median follow-up of 7.8 year.

  2. Fibrinolysis n=782 STEMI < 12 hours n=1572 PCI n=790 DANAMI-2 late

  3. DANAMI-2 late Event rate at 7.8 years (%) p=0.14 p<0.001 p=0.003

  4. DANAMI-2 late Event rate at 7.8 years (patients from referral hospitals only) p=0.03 p=0.006 p=0.002

  5. DANAMI-2 late Conclusion: The benefit of pPCI over fibrinolysis was maintained at long-term follow-up. pPCI reduced the risk of reinfarctionin the overall cohort and reduced reinfarctionand mortality among patients from referral hospitals. Nielsen et al. Circulation 2010;121:1484-91
