  2. What Is It? • Attaché is an add-on utility that lets users attach • multiple, arbitrary files in a variety of common formats • to Baan business documents. E.g. • PDF • EXCEL • WORD • GIF • JPEG • Works with Baan IV and Baan 5. • Thumbnails are available for JPEG and GIF files on • UNIX-based Baan systems. Discover the Value of Experience

How To Implement Attaché • Determine the areas in Baan you want attachments [Service Orders, Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, etc.]. • Disus implements a very small customization of thespecified Baan session(s) or provides a new sessionto access the attachments screen. • Attachments are uploaded via the BW interface and stored in customer-specified directory on the server. • Files are transferred dynamically, when selected. • Modifications to attachments need to be re-uploadedto the server, otherwise changes only saved as a local copy. Benefits of Attaché • Easy to attach any sort of documents to a Baan transaction record. • Little or no customization to existing sessions. • No installation on client beyond BW and typical PC apps. • Does not use PC drive mapping. • Makes no additional demands on the enterprise system. • Effective over VPN or Dial-up. • Makes Baan more useful by enabling the attachment of supporting documents (e.g. pictures instead or text for service documents).
