Position of Adverbs. Par Osias Pierre Richard. The usual position for adverbs used with simple tenses ( present , imperfect , simple, future,ect .) is directly following the conjugated verb . Ex: Il finit facilement ses devoirs.

The usual position for adverbsusedwith simple tenses (present, imperfect, simple, future,ect.) isdirectlyfollowing the conjugatedverb. • Ex: Il finit facilement ses devoirs. • Elles répondent bien aux questions. • Manyadverbs of time, place, frequency and mannermayalsobeplacedat the beginning or the end of a sentence. • Ex: Demain, nous allons partir. • Nous allons partir demain.

  3. Anyadverbthatdepends on the verb for itsmeaning, such as adverbs of quantity, must beplaceddirectlyafter the verb. • Ex: Il parle assez en cours. • Vous allez trop au café.

  4. Rappel • In French an adverbcanneverbeplacedafter the subject, as isoftendone in English. • English French • I finallyspeak French. Je parle enfin le français Pierre always arrives on time. Pierre arrive toujours a l’heure
