  3. The Motion • Complete • Must stand on its own as a complete motion • Concise • Provide only the information • Clear • Use clear, plain language

  4. Example The ABC Chapter moves that Society Presidents must now wear ABC Senators away jerseys (with no numbers or names on the back) at every social function at the ASHRAE winter meeting.

  5. The Background • Answers as many of the questions that the author can anticipate • Bullet points • More details is better than too few • No limit on length

  6. Example • The President has a limited wardrobe • He / She should be easily identified • The ABC Senators’ jersey is as good a team to support as any.

  7. Fiscal Impact • Be detailed • Support your math • Anticipate all costs... • List no-cost items
