  2. Why Twitter? • Personal profile in the testing community • Access to current, relevant information about testing • Access to thought leaders in the community • Find links to new blog posts, youtube presentations, articles • Follow discussions

  3. Time consuming? • Not every waking moment, every tweet • An hour here or there • Commuting • Read Later feature, queue up articles

  4. What is a hashtag? • Topic • Try searching for these: • #WeTest • #Testing • #CAST2013 • #STWC2014 • #LetsTest

  5. Tweet Something • For example, "I learned a lot tonight from @kengel100 at the #WeTestMeetup" • Find a tweet you like and Retweet it • 140 character limit • Just jump in, there's no right or wrong • Okay, there is a wrong, but it would have to pretty bad...

  6. Link it up • Add your Twitteruser account to LinkedIn • Keep it professional • Separate personal account? • Separate accountsfor testing your application\website with Twitter when needed

Keep it fun! • All work and no play... • Follow some celebrities, comedians, athletes, TV shows, news, etc • @JustinBeiber has 42 million followers • Also popular Katy Perry, Ashton Kutscher, CNN, George Takei, Ricky Gervais, Oprah… • Check out Trending topics • Keeps you coming back to Twitter

  8. Caution! • Be smart • Don't click links from people who joined yesterday and have no followers • Don't click links from any unknown accounts, even direct messages • You can only send private messages to people who follow you

  9. What do I do? • twitter.com and sign up. Tonight! • Install app on your smartphone • Follow people • @Charrett • @JamesMarcusBach • @MichaelBolton • @KeithKlain • @WTANZ_ • The list goes on… see my ‘List’ of Test Leads! • Twitter will suggest new people to follow

  10. Follow more people! • Why not follow people who follow you? • Search for Top Tester Tweeters • See who other testers are following • ‘Unfollow’ people at any time

  11. Take it to the next level • Read blogs and tweet the authors • Write a blog, tweet links to your new blog posts • Privately ask friends to Retweet you • Tweet others and ask them to follow you! • Encourage your non-Twitter colleagues to sign up too
