  1. AP2-Debuncher Injection Area 2004 Shutdown Work August 2, 2004

  2. What’s Today For? • Will the modifications reduce the beam steering hazards and ease injection tuning? • What rare the physical risks to the Debuncher components? • Do the modifications allow for easy/quick retreat if there are problems after attempting beam?

  3. What’s happening? • Injection Septum • Modification of removing material between Closed Orbit and Injection Channel • Decreases amount of closed orbit bump • Common vacuum eliminates air gap and vacuum windows • Vertical motion of stand • Will use to center injection channel on beam • D4Q4 SQC replacement with 2 LQBs • Injection orbit path designed to skim top of extended lobe star beam tube inside SQC • LQBs allow larger beam tube.

  4. What’s happening? • D4Q4 BPM • Injection orbit path designed to skim large BPM. • Move BPM downstream where injection orbit is closer to closed orbit. • Injection Kicker • Motorizing stand to center upon beam • Larger beam tube through LQs (4Q5 and new 4Q4 pair) • Replacing two separate pipes thru D4Q5 • New pipe will nestle up into coils as far as possible

  5. Beam Pipes into D4Q5

  6. Separate Pipes into D4Q5

  7. Two pipes out of D4Q5

  8. Two pipes in D4Q5

  9. Current ISEP

  10. Modified ISEP with Beam Tube

  11. Modified ISEP & Characters

  12. ISEP-Gap-Bellows-BPM-SQC Quad

  13. Current BPM & SQC Star Chamber

  14. SQC & LQB marks on floor

  15. SQC & VT403; more LQB marks

  16. D4Q3 & IKIK

  17. Debuncher Lattice with LQBs Current Lattice

  18. AP2 Lattice with LQBs Current Lattice

  19. Non-Mechanical Tunnel Work From D. VanderMeulen • Power Supply • 1200A PS available; ready to move to AP50 • Cable Pulls and Terminations • LQBs power, • Stand motors, • new BPM, • moving BPM(?), • ion pumps, • gate valve • Water (LCW) • Power supply • LQBs

  20. Non-Tunnel Work From D. VanderMeulen • Controls/ACNET • LQBs: Setting & Readback • ISEP motion control by old CAMAC interface • IKIK motion control by PLC • Console Applications/ Software • LQBs • P102: Modify bus cycling software • P60: Modify tune mults that currently uses D4Q4 shunt • New Ion Pumps & Gate Valve • Add to P17 & P18 • LQB, VT403, & Debuncher BPM positions • P144: Debuncher orbit correction program • New BPM and moved SEM • Yet to be written AP2 BPM DAQ and orbit correction program
