  3. Imperialism vs. Colonialism • Some people use interchangeably • Theory vs. Practice • Colonialism physically taking land. • Imperialism mentally influencing ideas. • Imperialism and Imperial are the powers that are the “doers” and Colonialism and Colonies are the receivers.
