Top Level Archive Responsibilities • SRE-S and SRE-O responsibilities as per ESA/ADMIN/ORG(2009)1 dated April 2009: • “the Head of the Solar System Missions Division (SRE-SM) has responsibility for the provision of project and study scientist support to the Directorate’s solar system missions throughout all mission phases and for ensuring that maximum scientific return within practical constraints is maintained as an objective.” • “the Head of the Solar System Science Operations Division (SRE-OO) has responsibility for the execution of the science operations of the Directorate’s solar system missions, including the operational and post-operational science archives.” • SRE-SM provides scientific inputs to the requirements on the PSA which, as a whole, is under SRE-OO responsibility • SRE-OO/Projects “contract” the development, operations and maintenance of the Archive software systems and infrastructure to the Science Archives Team (SRE-OE).

PSA Actors: PSA-DH and SAT • PSA responsibilities at ESAC are distributed between two teams: • PSA Data Handling Team (PSA-DH): • Data Handling and Archive Scientists (DHAS) • Coordinated by PSA Coordinator • Science Archives Team (SAT): • Individual(s) assigned to PSA for specific work. • Coordinated by SAT Leader

SAT Responsibilities (wrt PSA) • The Science Archives Team, in the PSA context, is responsible for • developing, deploying, operating and maintaining all PSA access subsystems in accordance to user requirements agreed with the PSA-DH • Data repository, database • GUI development (standard, map) • Scriptable interfaces (VO, IPDA) • Monitoring/statistics tools • Ingestionof PSA Datasets into the PSA • Interacting and interfacing with the PSA-DHteam for all PSA matters.

  7. PSA-DH Responsibilities • The PSA Data Handling Teamis responsible for: • Handling/validating all science data delivered by the PI teams • Organizing peer-reviews, with involvement from PS • Managing data access rights (proprietary periods etc.) • Delivering science data to the SAT for ingestion into the PSA • Specifying functionally oriented PSA user requirements • Defining the data specificationand archive standard requirements, in coordination with the PI(-teams), the Project Scientists and NASA PDS when applicable. • Testing the PSA beta releases and validatingthe changes before a new version of the PSA is released. • Setup and maintenance of PSA web.
