ObjectivesStudent will be able to: • Go to and bookmark the Edmodo website. • Create an Edmodo account. • Join class groups. • Change account settings. • Edit a profile. • Create, filter, and reply to post. • Access and mange the Planner. • Add to and manage BackPack documents. • Check grades and progress. • Turn in assignments and quizzes. • Create a Google document.

  3. This scavenger hunt consists of a series of 16 videos and a check list. This video is the only one we will complete as a class.

  4. Starting with step 2, you will work through the scavenger hunt at your own pace. When you complete one video, move on to the next video.

  5. When you have watched all the videos, completed all the tasks, and answered all the questions on your checklist, you will turn in the Scavenger Hunt assignment.

  6. Scavenger Hunt Badges

  7. Step 1: Creating an Edmodo Account • Go to www.Edmodo.com and bookmark it. • User name MUST be school appropriate. No gang, drugs, sex, violence, or profanity in the name; either directly stated OR implied. • First and last name must be properly capitalized. i.e. Joe Smith NOT JOE SMITH or joe smith or JoEsMiTh.

  8. Step 2: Joining Groups • You can add other classes to your profile. • You may need to add additional groups. Refer to the list of group codes provided by your teacher.

Step 3: Change Account Settings • Add, delete, or change email address. • Correct your name if you spelled it wrong or did not properly capitalize. • Designate your country and time zone. • Change or add photo. This must be school appropriate. • Sign up for and manage text and email notifications. • Change your password.

  10. Edmodo Apps • Available for iPhone/iPod/iPad & Android phones.

  11. Step 4: Create Your Profile • Update your About • See badges earned. • Check you activity (posts and replies). • Check you progress. • To earn the Profile Pro, your About must be completed to include: • A photo or avatar. • A favorite quote. • How I like to learn. • Career goal.

Step 5: Post Messages • Can only be sent to group and teacher. • No private messaging between students. • Can share files, web links, and items from your BackPack. • To complete this step: • Post a message to the class introducing yourself. Be sure to use proper grammar and NO text speak. • Send a post to your teacher only that says “Scavenger Hunt step 5 completed.”

  13. Step 6: Filtering Post • Latest Post: always takes you back to the main wall with all the posts. • By author : By Me or By Teachers • Recent Replies or Direct Posts • Types: Alerts, Assignments, Feeds, Polls, Quizzes • Groups • Tags: My Tags or Shared

Step 7: Replying to Post • Used to respond to posts by the teacher or classmates. • To complete this step do the following: • Find the shared tag “Edmodo Scavenger Hunt” • Find the post made by your teacher. • Click Reply and type “Reply to post completed.” • You do not use REPLY to turn in assignments.

  15. Step 8: The Planner • Shows: • Assignment due dates. • Events created by you are teachers. • Tasks created by you. • Can be sorted: • Week or Month • By groups.

  16. Step 9: Notifications • You Receive Notifications for: • Assignments Due • Late Assignments • Alerts • Quizzes • Replies • Direct Posts • Upcoming Events

  17. Step 10: Turning in Assignments • Assignments show up in four places: • Notifications • Filter by Assignments. • Planner • Progress

  18. Step 10: Turning in Assignments • Assignment posts show: • Title • Due Date • Turn In/Turned In/Graded • Description • Attached files or links. • To complete this step, complete the assignment Attaching a Document and turn it in.

  19. Step 11: Take a Quiz • Three ways to find assigned quizzes • Filter Posts by Quizzes • Notifications • On the group wall • All quizzes have a time limit. • Must finish in one sitting or all progress is lost.

Step 12: Check Your Grades • You can monitor your progress and check grades on assignments and some quizzes. • Grades reflected in Edmodo may not reflect your actual class grade, as only assignments entered into Edmodo show up. • Accessed from the toolbar. • Click on the drop down and choose the class.

Step 13: Manage your Backpack • Create a folder for this class. • Add the file you downloaded for Step 10 into your backpack. • Add the link www.google.com to your backpack. • Things added to your Backpack can be accessed from any computer with internet access. • Can be filtered by files or links.

  23. Step 14: Post from your Backpack • You can share documents and links from your backpack in assignments and posts. • To complete this step, create a post to your teacher and share the link from your Backpack.

  24. Step 15: Take the Poll • You find polls by filtering posts by Polls. • Polls are completely anonymous. • DO NOT put your answer as a reply, or it is not longer anonymous. • Click on the button next to your choice. • Click VOTE. • After you vote, you will see the results.

  25. Step 16: Complete a Google Document. • To complete this step, you must have a Google or Gmail account. • Go to https://drive.google.com/#my-drive • Create a document called Edmodo Scavenger Hunt. • Create a post to your teacher and share the document from your Backpack.

  26. Your Scavenger Hunt is complete!
