Maxfield Parrish was born on July 25, 1870 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died in March 30th, 1966 at age of 96.
Early life His name from birth was Frederick Parrish, but later he adopted the maiden name of his paternal grandmother, Maxfield, as his middle name, and later as his professional. He began drawing when he was as child.
Family life His father was an engraver and landscape artist. wife Lydia Austin (1872-1953), was an instructor at the school. Shemarried in 1895. His second son Maxfield Parrish Jr. is known for his important contribution to the development of the first self-developing camera
Family life (continue) third son, Stephen Parrish II, worked for Pan American as a mechanic. His daughter Jean Parrish was a noted artist in her own right and died in 2004.

education In 1884 he attended classes at Dr. Kornemann's school in Paris. Parrish continued his education at Haverford College and graduated in 1892. From 1892 to 1894, he took classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
Influences and inspirations Parrish's parents encouraged his talent. His father was also an artist. The geometry in his work was influenced by Jay Hambidge's theory of Dynamic Symmetry. His work has been highly influential, and the prices for his original paintings at auction have increased.
Movement and style Dazzlingly luminous colors. Achieved the results by means of a technique called glazing where bright layers of oil color separated by varnish are applied alternately over a base rendering. Build up the depth in his paintings by photographing, enlarging, projecting and tracing half- or full-size objects or figures. His work achieves a unique three-dimensional appearance.
