  1. Report: #3Activity: PS complex Jose A. Ferreira 4th February 2019

  2. Performed activities during last 2 weeks • AD&ELENA • Removed magnet BHN05 and BTI.8025  Some delays linked to handling difficulties • Installation of new FINEMET  Manifolds to be designed • LINAC2&4 • L4 transfer line closed (no leak tested)  Painting starts on Monday

  3. Performed activities during last 2 weeks • PSB • Removal of BI.SMH, BHZ11, BHZ162 and BHZ161 • Preparation of BHZ152 and BHZ151

  4. Performed activities during last 2 weeks • PS • Consolidation of ion pumps from SS88 to SS08 • MU73, MU24, MU22 and MU29 cut and prepared MU32, MU13 and MU11 ready for transport. Waiting for MU73 welding • KFA45 test finished. Ion pumps and pumping group removed. KFA45 removed • BFA21, SEH31, SMH57, SMH42 and BWS42 removed

  5. Planned activities for next 2 weeks • AD&ELENA: Continue with magnet consolidation and consolidation of kicker feedthroughs in vacuum sector 1A (delayed to this week) • PSB: • Remove KSW16L1, BHZ152 and BHZ151 • Disassembly of transfer lines BI, BT, and BTM • PS: • Start disconnection of LBE and LBS lines • Remove dumps SS47 and SS48 • Weld chamber MU73, MU24 and MU22. • Cut chambers MU32 and MU13 • ISOLDE: Consolidation of compressed air system.

  6. Resources distribution • Russian team: Disassembly injection area in PSB  Complemented with consolidation work • 1x40/30 team working in PS magnet consolidation and ion pump consolidation  Detailed follow-up until 2 complete magnet units done • Paul and Guillermo: Coordination of PS and PSB works, preparation of interventions. Disconnection of injection - extraction area of PSB • Alex + 40/30 support: AD& ELENA • Alex contribution to dose sharing and collaboration in PS ring • 40/30 lab support, leak detection and assembly • Acceptance test of LPU and SEMgrids • Alice and Nico: Lab and LINACs • Dose sharing in PS and PSB • Claude: ISOLDE and nTOF • Follow-up of cutting and welding in building 150 (support to EN-MME)

  7. Technical problems • Lack of detail planning for disassembly injection area  Very poor ALARA work. Required some imagination to remove magnets  Extra dose • LIU baseline was to re-use manifold from 1L1  Too high dose rate Production of new support (unplanned) • Possible modification of 2L1 region (tube instead of empty manifold • Vacuum chambers in 6L1 bellows badly damaged. Removed after EN-EL request  Production of spare chambers
