At the 2007 Charleston Conference, Tansy Matthews discussed the challenges faced by VIVA, a consortium of 72 higher education institutions in Virginia. With 24 community colleges and a variety of campuses, VIVA processes an extensive amount of data each month. Key needs include consistency in format, content, coverage, and delivery to achieve maximum efficiency. The plea for XML and sortable spreadsheets emphasizes the necessity of a streamlined approach to data management, ensuring that vital information is accessible without unnecessary complexity.
