Work oriented vs. retir. oriented • feel healthier, are better dealing with functional health constrains; use less medication; feel subjectively younger • more able to deal with ones´ own ageing process (PGCM scale) • are more optimistic about recent development as compared to situation before 1989 (communist era) • feel subjectively more rich and declare higher income, • describe own retirement more as an unpleasant experience or formality (vs. looking forward to it or due to external pressure) • expect (or experience) decreasing quality of life in retirement (feelings of usefulness, relationships,mental wellbeing…) • BUT no influence of sex, age!, and only negligible association with education …
