CLIC-Pakistan collaboration Joint CERN-Pakistan Committee (JCPC) G. Riddone, 2013.04.11 [contribution from A. Nawaz]
New addendum under finalization Collaboration follow-up with Mr Azhar (bi-monthly phone meetings)
Requirements Accelerating structures and PETS Dictated by beam physics and RF ultra high precision machining Turning – milling Several annealing steps (no burrs, no scratches)
Current collaboration Mechanicaldesign • Following new addendum (from April 2013) • Mechanical engineer at CERN for six months • Technician at CERN for 3 months • Engineering work mainly focused on x-band production and two-beam module activities (e.g tooling for assembly and transport of RF structures), • Quality of work fully satisfactory • Deadlines respected
Current collaboration Micro-precision machining • Extended collaboration to fabrication and testing of micro-precision components for the CLIC two-beam module • Machining of RF structures: • disks for accelerating structures • bars for PETS Different UP machines and machine strategy being investigated (for details refer to contribution of A. Nawaz)
Future collaboration • Meeting with Mr H. Hoorani and colleagues on 09.04.2013: • Finalisation of the new agreement • Discussion of possible extension of collaboration to other areas of the CLIC machine: CTF3 and beam physics • Contact with respective technical people to be established
Pakistan – CLIC Collaboration Study/ Development of RF Structures for future possible collaboration A. Nawaz, status on 10.04.2013
