  2. TV and the Millennial Generation…

  3. Saturday Morning Cartoons As children, those in the Millennial Generation woke up at the crack of dawn and started their weekends off with cartoons.

  4. It’s all about 90’s After a half day of kindergarten, a smiling friend greeted us saying, “Hi there, Face here!” and introduced us to some awesome educational TV shows.

  5. It’s all about 90’s ^ STILL Nickelodeon in the 90s was, in a word, magic. There were cartoons, live comedies, and game shows that stole the hearts of the millennial generation. Generation Y made these shows such a huge success, that today they are re-airing some of the most popular ones so we can relive our childhood.

  6. As we got older, however, reality TV changed our generation. They started out with pure intentions… Shows like American Idol, TopChef, and America’sNextTopModel allowed “nobody’s” a chance at getting their big break…. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition gave a family in need a brand new place to live and sent chills down viewers spines’ every time the bus was moved and the family got a first glimpse of their new home. The Biggest Loser helped it’s contestants lose weight and gain a healthier lifestyle for the future.

  7. Then things got a little… much. Thanks to these, our fellow millennials, we now have the phrase “GTL”, or Gym Tan Laundry, and know how to fist pump. Rap Star FlavaFlav’sFlavor of Love, a spinoff of ABC’s very successful Bachelor, aired on VH1 and provided the millennials with exactly what they wanted…. reality TV love, drama, and also, if you recall, a giant loogie. Turns out Flav found love… in each of the three seasons his show aired. Ashton Kutcher may have gotten his start on That 70’s Show, but MTV made him a real star when they let him trick celebrity’s by pretending their cars were stolen or “accidentally” lighting their houses on fire. Right as the rich and famous were about to have a mental breakdown, Kutcher would jump out and yell his now infamous phrase, “YOU JUST GOT PUNK’D!” And then, there’s The Jersey Shore, MTV’s reality show that chronicles the drunk, partying lifestyle of eight people living in a beach house at the Jersey Shore. For some reason, the Millennial Generation loves to see how the rich and pampered live their lives. This is the only explanation I have for the creation of The Real Housewives series’, which now take place in over five different cities.

  8. Twitter • Twitter second-most popular social media tool (behind Facebook) • Users upload posts (called tweets) and the people that follow that user read the content of the message • Over 300 million users generate 300 million posts a day • Posts limited to to 140 characters

  9. Twitter Informing the World • People can specify what information they want to read (i.e. follow people who they are interested in) • Gathering information is now more efficient • The way news is broken is constantly changing • Arizona’s Athletic Director introduced their new football coach on Twitter

  10. Founded in 2005 • Top 4 most visited Website • Over 120,000,000 videos

  11. No site like this before Millennial Generation • Provides users with endless information

  12. The College Bill • Cost of college has risen dramatically • Millennials hear about how expensive it is a natural understanding of the importance money and a job are formed • Because of this, Millennials realize the overwhelming importance of education

  13. Educational Perfection • Millennials strive for whatever is the highest possible goal in the classroom (4.0, 100, A, etc.) • Relativity with learning is incredibly important. Learning topics with no real application often fall on deaf ears • Efficiency also aids the millennial generation • This demand for perfection is producing stronger, more determined students
